It's never too late!

Hey all! So, last week I touched briefly on adoption. Whilst watching the programme I realised something else too.

As you well know adoption can happen almost immediately from birth or later on in life. Now I’m not too sure about this but I think it is fair to say that a good amount of people favour adopting babies or very young children. This is understandable I guess.

What I realised when watching this is that it somewhat can be akin to how it is when we know God.

For some of us we grew up in a religious household since we were born. We then decided to take the next step and know Him for ourselves(A). For others, though we may have grown up in a religious  environment we have not made a personal decision to follow God(B). To other people it could be that they only knew about God much later (Also B).

Scenario A would be like babies who were adopted since or close to birth. They haven’t had to feel the absence of parents and they’ve been cared for since a very young age. B would be children who were adopted at a much later stage in life.

So, where am I going with this?

B has been exposed to the world and possibly has a few scars to show for it. They may carry emotional baggage and the like. They may feel as if they are ‘unloveable’ , ‘unwanted’ and not needed. The good news is that they later decide to know God and not just know Him but actually accept Him. They’ve been ‘adopted’ .The beautiful things is that scars and all He takes them in.

Though A may always seem to have known God for longer, they are not without issues. And whilst they may have not been so exposed to the wiles of the world there is still a need for them to accept God for themselves and not just because their parents are Christians.

I guess, what I’m trying to say is that it is never too late to come to God, warts and all. Don’t for a second think you’re too ‘dirty’ and ‘unclean’ for Him. He loves you. Unconditionally.
