My 23rd birthday

Hey everyone! I guess people don't usually make a big hoo haa about birthdays that aren't 'landmark ages', i.e., 16,18,21,25,30.50 , but I'm not just anyone ;)

To be honest I actually didn't want to do anything because I just wasn't feeling it this year. You know that thing called life and all the obstacles it throws at you sometimes? Yeah. Or the days before your birthday when you fall victim to 'birthday  blues' and ponder over what your life is, isn't and shoulda, coulda been? Yeah.Well, thanks to the advice of friends and family I ended up celebrating it in my own small way.

So, anyone who knows me knows that I love to go out and eat and I'm always on the hunt for unique experiences. I'm a bit over the top and I usually research and check out suitable restaurants for my birthday by checking out reviews, menu choices, restaurant decor and ambience. I tried to do it this year but I wasn't really finding anything that I was so wowed by and I wasn't keen on going up to central especially on a Friday evening. Eventually I decided to bring it back home; I chose Enish, a Nigerian restaurant that's basically half an hour from where I live so it was an all round win-win situation. I'm glad I chose it and I had a great time too!

The best thing for me however was being around people that love me for who I am and being free and open with them. I literally had a moment where I was like 'This is it'. This is really what I want my life to be about; spending time with my loved ones and showing love to everyone. It was just what I needed and it really meant the world to me. Money couldn't buy the joy that I felt within <3.

I took some photos with my camera and if you don't know by now I am a novice with a capital N so don't expect miracles. Im making more of an effort to capture more moments with friends and family so here goes lol.

The day after my birthday, I went to BallieBallerson which was great. It was a bit too packed at times for my liking but hey, it's a Saturday night so what was I expecting really? I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. It really did make me feel young again and as I was drowning in all the balls I forget everything and worried about nothing. It kinda reminded me of this verse,

'Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven'

                                                                                             Matthew 18:4 (ESV)

Children are innocent with no worries in the world. There is no fear about tomorrow because all they know is today. That is one area where being a child is pretty useful.

All in all I had a great birthday and I look forward to what this new year will bring! Here's to more life, more blessings and joy forevermore!
