I love all things female empowerment and I am all about creating equal opportunities for women but what I'm not here for is a lack of accountability. How do I mean you ask? Well, stick around and hear me out ;) Before making it gender specific let's just make it human; nobody is perfect and we all have our shortcomings. I believe that is something that we can all agree on, right? If that is the case why does it feel as if women are sometimes not held accountable for their actions or better...
For as long as I can remember I've always been uncomfortable with the term' strong black woman'. In my opinion it is just as dangerous as the 'angry black woman' stereotype and I'll discuss why I think so too. According to google one of the definitions of strong is : 'The ability to withstand force, pressure, or wear'. On the surface it's not necessarily a bad thing and really, who would want to be 'weak'? My issue is that when juxtaposed with 'black' as well it just becomes a double negative...
